Monument to Nikola Vaptsarov
Plovdiv, Nikola Vaptsarov Blvd., 2003

At the beginning of the century, an initiative committee decided to create a commemorative monument in connection with the anniversary of the death of the poet Nikola Vaptsarov. A place has been selected on the boulevard of the same name in the city of Plovdiv, in the Yuzhen district, at the intersection with Stefan Stambolov Street. The project was assigned to Viktor Todorov.

The monument is a geometric plastic concrete form with a beveled upper edge. A relief image of Nikola Vaptsarov is installed in the central part. To the right, on a lower level, is placed a second geometric form with a plaque and an excerpt from a poem by the poet.

The monument symbolizes the upward heroic path. The break at the upper plastic line shows that regardless of the cruel turn in the fate of the poet, the sublimity and power of his work are a strong shout-out to all progressive forces and their eternal struggle.
