Warm Еarth
Fund of Dobrich City Art Gallery, 1977
The sculpture “Warm Earth”, depicting a reclining female figure, is made of bronze and is owned by the City Art Gallery in Dobrich.
We assume that the sculpture represents an image of a woman working in the fields, who after a busy and hard day rests on the earth, and the earth is still warm holding the sun’s rays.
The sultriness of the female body, its laxity, closed eyes and tense expression show the sweetness of fatigue and well-deserved rest. However, the emphasis on the intimacy between the woman and the earth is obvious. The two strong beginnings of life. There is undisguised eroticism in the accentuated female breasts and the general pose of the figure.
The plastic expression and the anonymity of the image show Viktor Todorov’s already familiar manner of clearing the form and searching for the most expressive in the state.
